A dog-friendly 4-bedroom barn on a working Suffolk farm — 6 miles from Bury St Edmunds, sleeps 9.
Check AvailabilityA newly converted four-bedroom barn set on our family's working arable farm — 100+ years in the family, a warm welcome guaranteed.
Darney Barn is the kind of place families and groups come back to: spacious, spotless, full of homely touches, and held together by the one thing every one of our guests writes about — the hosting. Host Louisa (and sometimes her dad) knows everyone by name, leave a hand-drawn map of the best walks on the kitchen table, and are always on the end of a message if you need anything.
Outside the barn, an enclosed patio with covered BBQ and fire pit is ready for long evenings of food, wine and stories. Beyond the patio, farm walks rich with deer, hare and buzzards run in every direction — one pretty route takes you to a cosy country pub in about an hour. Lavenham, Long Melford, Cambridge and the Suffolk coast are all within easy reach.
It's dog-friendly too (including wheelchair-using dogs — just ask), with plenty of space inside and out, clear night skies for stargazing, and enough quiet that you'll actually hear yourself think.

Absolutely fantastic stay, highly recommend for a group. Louisa's communication was impeccable from start to finish, despite some tardiness from my side. The place is exactly as shown in the photos and really well set up with homely touches, a fully equipped kitchen and kids toys. She offered some great recommendations of places to explore in the local area and local walks.

An excellent place to stay in close proximity to Bury St Edmunds. Very attentive host and everything exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend booking and would stay again if we were ever in the area.

Louisa was very responsive and helpful from booking till the end of our stay. The barn is situated in the middle of beautiful countryside within easy reach of Bury St Edmunds and Long Melford. The house had all we needed for our stay and was very comfortable, the rooms were beautifully decorated. There were lovely walk ideas and toys and games for our little girl which was a nice touch. We really enjoyed our stay here.

We stayed at Louisa's barn over the bank holiday weekend as a family of 5 and a family of 4 plus two dogs! The barn is absolutely beautiful, cosey and so homely. The games and toys are a lovely touch. Louisa had left us a map with some walks drawn onto it and I hugely recommend going into the meadow and grabbing yourself some apples and blackberries! Louisa was so friendly as was her dad who checked we were happy with the accommodation and had a lovely chat about the history of the farm etc. We had a wonderful stay and cannot recommend the barn enough so reasonable but perfect for a relaxed break away.

Lovely, clean and cosy accommodation, with a friendly, very helpful and flexible host. Great value for money for a large group, with all the amenities you could need.

We had a wonderful stay here with two families of four. The house was perfect for us — spacious, clean, and very comfortable. There are four bedrooms and three bathrooms, and Louisa kindly arranged one of the rooms as two singles instead of a double, which worked brilliantly for our group. The open-plan living space was ideal for hosting family, with plenty of seating both inside and outside. It never felt crowded, even with a full house. The property is in a quiet location, which made it very relaxing. A lovely detail was the hand wash — it smelled divine and made the place feel extra welcoming.
